Carolina Navas G .
Graduated from the Faculty of Integrated Arts at Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia. She directed some short films produced for schoolwork, as well as some productions for the UVTV and Señal Colombia TV channels. Of which, one of them La Memoria Cruzada stands out for being awarded the best professional audiovisual piece at the “Toma 5 Film Fest” (Bogotá 2002).
In 2004, she works as director assistant for the Patofeofilms film production company. In this same year, she directs Pola 1307, a short documentary included six-country produced feature film called Qué culpa tiene el tomate. Also, in this year, she directs a videoclip called Estrellas negras (Awarded the best videoclip“In Vitro Visual award” in 2006).
In 2008 she travels to Buenos Aires to make photography and documentary related studies at the Argentinean Film Industry Syndicate (SICA).
In 2011 she travels back to Bogotá to work as a set-photographer in William Vega’s movie La Sirga, and directs the documentary Detrás de la Niebla.
She directs the documentary series Anónimas Extraordinarias for the Señal Colombia Channel. (Awarded the India Catalina award for “Best social inclusion TV show”).
In 2014 she is awarded the best photography award with My Grandmother and her fear sat “The Macallans Masters of photography” contest in the UK, and also she is the winner for the district art call Photographic chronicle about the everyday life in Bogotá (2014). In 2015 she works as set-photographer in the movie Los Hongos, by Oscar Ruiz Navia.
In 2015, the documentary project Fullhachede was the winner of the award for short documentary production for the “Colombian Film Development” (FDC), and a scholarship for documentary production at the “Mix Fund for the Promotion of Arts and Culture in Valle del Cauca”. In this same year she also participated as a curator for the photographic exhibition “Bogotá sabe a cine” which took place during the “Bogoshorts”short-film fest.
In 2016 she works along with Felipe Guerrero in a photographic project ( Ritual de Memoria) parallel to the premiere of his movie Oscuro Animal, and also goes as an invited photographer to the shooting of the William Vega’s movie Sal.
Between the years 2016 and 2017 she participated in meetings and workshops related to author photography.
In August of 2017, she was the winner of the grant to the “Plastic and Visual Arts of the Secretary of Culture of Cali” for her photographic documentary project Nos miran (They gaze upon us) and in November, she exhibited this project in La Obeso Mejía House of the La Tertulia Museum in Cali, Colombia.
In October of this same year, she exhibited in Paris her photographic series Ritual de Memoria.
In August of 2018 and 2019 she was part of the exhibition Africamericano sat the Centro de la imagen in Mexico City and Museo Amparo in Puebla, curated by Claudi Carreras.
In this same year, the MUGA publishing house, will publish Tumaco within the “Pewen Photography Notebooks” collection. (Spain)
In December she won an artistic residency “Gamleby Photo Grant” in Sweden.
In October she premiered her documentary Fullhachede at the Festival Panorama du Cinéma Colombien in Paris and has also been to the following Film Festivals:

In 2019 she was selected in the New York Times Portfolio Review and was one of the winners of Latin American Photo 8. ( NYC )
She was selected for the Womenphotograph Wokshop held in Quito, Ecuador in December 2019.
In 2020 she was selected for E.CO Encuentros de Creación by Baudó Agencia and she participates in the group exhibition Pacífico, Ritual und Widerstand in Kolumbien at the Fotogalerie Friedrichshain in Berlin.
